As the data controller, we process personal data in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter “GDPR”) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (hereinafter “DSG”).

The legal basis is the performance of a contract (client engagement) or the pre-contractual negotiation of a client engagement, or legal obligations to which we are subject in the course of our professional practice as a law firm or as attorneys.

We process personal data (e.g. name, address, contact person, scope of engagement, fees, time period and mandate-related correspondence) in the course of our legal practice to avoid conflicts of interest, for file creation and management, to identify you as a current or potential client or business partner and to fulfill our professional due diligence obligations, such as, in particular, the obligation to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. Without this data, we cannot enter into a contract with you.

For these purposes, we may also disclose data to third parties such as regulatory authorities, competent courts or government agencies, opposing parties or their representatives, parties involved in proceedings, or external service providers (e.g. auditors, tax advisors, IT service providers).

We generally store your data for the duration of the retainer and for as long as statutory retention obligations apply or legal claims can be asserted against us.

In addition to retainer-related communication, we may inform you of current legal developments that could be of interest to you, as well as about our legal services and, where applicable, events. The legal basis for this is our overriding legitimate interest.

Website Use: When you use our website sehrschoen.at, we process only the data that your browser transmits to our server. This includes your IP address, browser and language settings, operating system, referrer URL, Internet service provider and date/time (access data; so-called log files). The collection of this access data is technically necessary to enable you to use our website and to allow us to ensure its functionality and data security.

We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk associated with the personal data being processed.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the contact information provided above. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed, you may file a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria, the Data Protection Authority is the supervisory authority.
